Architect Profile

William Drummond

William Eugene Drummond was a Chicago Prairie School architect. He was admitted to the University of Illinois School of Architecture in 1899, at the same time as Walter Burley Griffin. However, financial difficulties forced Drummond to leave after one year. He began working in Chicago for architect Louis Sullivan, and several months later he went to work for Frank Lloyd Wright.

He served as the chief draftsman for Wright's Cheney, Robie, and Mrs. Susan Dana house commissions, plus the Larkin Co, Administration Building in Buffalo, NY. After obtaining his architect license in 1901, he continued to work part-time for Wright until 1905.
